This nature thrived and sustainably-prepared hospitality journey is prepared for hospitality students, business owners, tourism practitioners, and everyone who is passionate about the balance and the health of mother earth, curious about sustainable practices, and eager to implement the impactful knowledge. The five days journey consists of four different grand themes namely permaculture garden, eco-architecture, waste management and community engagement that will be directly hosted in four different accommodations. During the journey, you will get the opportunity to be engaged with the representative even the owners of the accommodations who applied a responsible and sustainable practices and engaging local community as well as long-preserved Balinese culture in their hospitality management as well as the construction of accommodation.
The participants of this journey will also get the beneficial chance to transfer knowledge, fulfill their curiosity and get a first-hand experience by staying in each of the mindfully-chosen accommodations. We seek to educate the participants to know the intertwine of the understanding of hospitality and the mother nature.
Day 1 Denpasar – Candidasa
WELCOME TO INDONESIA!
Once you arrive, our friendly team will pick you up at the airport to begin the exciting journey. First, we make a stop in one of the nice Balinese restaurant in the coastal area of East Bali to calm our belly after the international flight. Once you enjoy the meal, you will have time to adapt and enjoy the bright scenery of the beach. Then we will transfer you to Alila Manggis. Once you settled, in the late afternoon we will have a workshop of Waste Management (Green Bank) with Alila Manggis. Located in East Bali, 2016 EarthCheck Gold certification hotel, Alila Mangis, is one of the high committed hotel to environmental and social responsibility. This accommodation initiates broad range sustainability projects such as Zero-Waste policy, coral reef conservation program partnered with a local diving operation. One of the most ones is their project in training and employing local villagers through its Greenbank community recycling project. The first day of this journey is a golden opportunity for you to learn firsthand from Alila Manggis regarding their all best green initiatives that can be applied in your business, workspace, community and daily life.
Day 2 Candidasa – Singaraja
Rise and shine!
Today, it is time to move. We take you on a 2,5-hours drive to the north of Bali. We will make some stops at some great places. First stop is Besakih temple, one of the most important hindu Hindunese temple in this island. Parts of this temple are up to 2000 years old. Next, we continue to the impressive caldera of
Kintamani. Enjoy the view with a coffee regional cultivation or a fresh juice.
Once you arrive in Sudaji village in North Bali, together with the friendly hosts, we invite you to take a village tour to get to know the rural local life of Balinese people. We will visit places where they produce handicrafts and basic necessities for their livelihood. This is the rare opportunity to get authentic insights in local economic activities and daily lives. After that, if the time permits we will trek to the Sekumpul waterfall. with 80-meters height the stunning twin falls located in moist environment and surrounded by deep green forests.
In the evening you will have a chance to discuss more about the development of the accommodation, that turned from a dumpsite into a little paradise and impacts the communities around it.
Day 3 Singaraja – Tabanan
Let’s begin your day with yoga and meditation to liven up our spirits for the whole day! Today is exciting as we head to the ‘Garden of Bali’ which is an expression for the area of Tabanan. On the way, we will stop by at Aling-Aling Waterfall. There are four waterfalls here where you can muster up your adrenaline and try cliff jumping starting from 5 until 15 meters high. You can also have fun with the water slides or just swim in the refreshing natural pools. Then, we are heading to the accommodation for the night. You will spend a night in an open-air flow green sanctuary in the uphill area of Bali. This is not only a perfect place to relax and connect with nature of Bali, but also ideal to learn about the art of sustainable hospitality from one of the best practices on this island.
In the late afternoon, we will have a discussion session with a representative of Bali Eco Stay. They will explain to you about the lodge, their permaculture gardens and how they actually built a small destination over the years starting with their accommodation. Learn how their environmental management and accommodation involves local families and creates true resilience even in times of Covid-19.
Enjoy the rest of the day by strolling around the accommodation.
Day 4 Tabanan – Ubud
Gear up! Today, it is time to move. We take you on a two-hours-walk to see the coffee plantation, chocolate groves, and rice paddies. If the sky is clear you can even spot the majestic Mt. Batukaru. Afterwards, we will head back to the accommodation and prepare our departure to the central of Bali.
Afterwards, we are heading to the outskirts of Ubud. Here, in your last accommodation, you will have the best experience to learn about innovative eco-architecture, renewable energy, water recycling and more. Many sustainable measurements and practices are implemented here and this is your chance to gain the knowledge firsthand. A discussion session with their representative will certainly inspire your future career path.
Day 5 Ubud – Denpasar
Good morning! As this is the last day of your journey in Wonderful Indonesia, you can take your time to take a glance of the surrounding and Ubud area. Then, at a suitable time, our team will pick you up at your accommodation and take you to the airport in Denpasar.
