Introducing Wise Steps Travel Field Study Trips in Indonesia

Toba Stakeholders meeting

Wise Steps Travel are incredibly excited to be officially launching Wise Steps Travel Field Study Trips in Indonesia. We have recently completed our first two university field projects in 2019 and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Facilitating this kind of in-depth cultural exchange with international universities and schools and local Indonesian communities is our truest passion and we cannot wait to see where else we can take it next. Read on to find out about how we started this amazing journey.

WHAT are Wise Steps Travel Field Study Trips?

From our base in Jakarta, our team facilitates the on-the-ground coordination of university field projects and school study trips across Indonesia. With us taking care of logistics, the students and communities we connect can focus on cultural exchange, skill and knowledge sharing, and enjoy the in-depth learning experience.

From finding the perfect location and community to arranging research permits, translators and excursions, Wise Steps Travel is there for you every step of the way. Tell us your area of study and we will tailor a program that is educational, immersive and reaps long-term benefits for students and the local community alike.

WHY are we focusing on Field Study Trips in Indonesia?

Founders Ayu and Matteo started Wise Steps Travel to create travel experiences in Indonesia that focus on experience, exchange, education, empowerment, and the environment. The 5 E’s. For them, nowhere do these come together so powerfully than in research-led study trips. And they believe there is no better place for immersive educational travel experiences than Indonesia.

Research Productivity in Indonesia is far lower than the world average and more often than not field projects are executed in Indonesia without clear facilitation or guidance and the results are usually presented abroad with no access to that knowledge locally.

We hope to change this by bringing collaboration back to study tours in Indonesia.

With Study Tours, Wise Steps Travel is able to introduce Indonesia to international students in a way that benefits them and local communities, not just for the duration of a holiday but for years and generations to come. By involving Indonesian universities and enterprises in international field projects and study trips and setting up stakeholder meetings, Wise Steps Travel wants to ensure knowledge is spread to those who will benefit from it most.
